The newest original piece, the Credenza-za, I have spent years dreaming about and months of design engineering – from the look to the style and then into development. Additionally, each piece takes another 100-plus man hours in our shop to construct and finish by our master woodworking team.
The most unique features of the piece are the all-original designed spalted maple, wave pattern tambour doors. Unlike normal tambour doors, the Credenza-za has no hidden pockets for the doors; they float freely as they track in the walnut frame all the way around when opened. The tambour doors and solid walnut dove-tailed drawers have our original “Shark Fin” pulls. Constructed of re-claimed black walnut and rare spalted maple, this credenza is contemporary with a whisper of mid-century modern.
The re-claimed spalted maple, wave pattern, tambour doors track around the ends, and appear to float in the walnut frame. An original design and fabricated in the studio, the wave tambour doors are (to the best we can determine) are totally unique in the furniture industry at this time.
The walnut case work and base are hand crafted to the highest standards of woodworking quality, and our hand rubbed with a wax finish to highlight the natural walnut grain
The solid walnut dove tailed drawers and our original design “Shark Fin”, pulls along with book matched figured walnut drawer fronts, feature hidden “soft close” hardware to give the “Credenza-za” a modern touch.
What truly makes the Credenza-za so special is a culmination of all the intricate details and craftsmanship that went into the design process and build. From the formed legs to the radius top, each piece was painstaking thought out, then re-imagined again until it was not just right, but woodworking perfection. We believe the start of the show really are to tambour doors and its here that we are most proud of what was accomplished. Using old-world working with a touch of modern technology, we designed the doors to be flat on one side to accept the canvas fabric support, but have a textured relief on the front. This feature captures the eye and highlights the spalted maple to the peak of its beaut.
